Ruby Marris Trust Drag Show 24’

Ahhhh the drag show… where to begin!? Never in my burlesque-loving wildest dreams did I think I could come across an opportunity like this in our little town! I got to collaborate with 3 lovely Queens (not the drag kind) to create a magical show of dinner and dancing in Oamaru’s finest venue The Loan & Merc. And then the Drags themselves… 10 or so hearty blokes of Oamaru with a brilliant sense of humour and a can-do attitude, putting in hours every week to learn some steps and play dressup. Even if it was just so they could wear their very own pair of the best fake breasts you’ve seen in your life.

As if it could get any better…. the icing on the cake - raising a hefty amount of money for the most beautiful fundraiser I’ve heard of. Many children have seen their performing arts dreams come true in honour of Ruby. Such a privilege for me to be able to contribute in some way to something with this level of meaning and importance. You are all stars!! Thankyou x

That Bloody Woman 23’

The rollercoaster ride of ‘That Bloody Woman’. A musical production of the epic-ness that was Kate Shepherd. Musical Theatre Oamaru took out many Otago Southland Theatre Awards for the performance including Best Direction, Best Musical Direction, Best Lighting and Visual Augmentation, Best Leading Female AND Best Overall Production. I was so stoked to be a part of this and had the time of my life with costumes, dancing, singing and making dance clips.

Camp Quality South 23’

Lovely Lynne loved her line dancing class that I held at Weston hall, so she thought it would be a great idea for me to teach the Camp Quality team a couple of dances for their cowboy-themed adventurous week in Queenstown & Cromwell! What an amazing bunch of kids who have all dealt with the trials and tribulations of cancer and you wouldn’t even know it. I only wish I could have stayed longer. Unfortunately the camp had to finish early due to a case of covid but they still got to fit in lots of cool stuff and we got to dance together! Wishing you all a lifetime of health & happiness.

Dance class of 22’

After learning all about ballet from the beautiful Victoria Cooper and needing a new dance project - I started Soul Dance Club. After months of mixed genre of dance, our small dedicated group performed in December onstage at Victoria Cooper Academy of Dance to finish off the classes. The following year I taught a little more including a couple of hall-filled line dances. Soo good- I had always wanted to line dance with a crowd like on the movies! I also love finding people who love to dance as much as I do.
