A Fresh Perspective

With our thoughts, feelings and perception moulded by a lifetime of conditioning from people and events- it’s no wonder sometimes we struggle with negative self-chatter. I’m forever compiling quotes, sayings and strategies that resonate with me and bring a little calm to my mind. With an analogy I learned from a guest on a Mel Robbins podcast- As a builder would take with him his entire toolkit and then choose his right tool to get the job done, you may choose which strategy works to help you at any given time.

Be Yourself.

Nooo don’t roll your eyes! Do you ever feel like everyone else has tons of personality and you're just ‘meh’? You are super unique and interesting! The more you lean into your natural self the better things will be. Make it your life’s work to put down what doesn’t light you up. Try to pick up something you are curious about. The right people and experiences cannot find you if you’re hiding away.

Time Travel.

Is something weighing you down? How will you feel about it in 2 weeks from now? 2 years? 10 years? For many issues that seem so large in the moment sometimes it’s helpful to zoom out to a bigger picture. Sometimes this can may help how us choose how to cope with it now.

It’s Never Too Late.

We all may have regrets and things that we chuck in the too hard basket or don’t see the point in starting. As long as you’re alive you can absolutely steer your energy towards something new. You don’t have to be good at something to enjoy it. You can’t be saying ‘ I wish I did this or that’ if there is still someway you could walk that path!

Connect.

A lot of people (including me) love to be alone. Social pressure is a real thing and anxiety seems to be taking over! This world is messy and unfair and sometimes you can’t deal with the drama. But connection is a core need of every human. Be brave, reach out, listen, share, help. You might just make someone’s day or they might make yours!

If You Want To Help Others, Help Yourself.

I think this ones a bit of magic and that it goes both ways! By doing and being your best you will absolutely help others - in multiple ways that you may not even realise! On the flip side if you are feeling super stuck - try switching the focus and give a small kind gesture to someone. It all comes and goes around!

Learn The Art Of UNDERTHINKING.

Our brains are really good at assessing situations. Too good! Sometimes it’s important to quiet your mind when it is not serving you. Not everything needs to be thought out to the last detail!

One Day At A Time.

What about 1 hour at a time! When things are overwhelming give yourself permission to do what you can, with what you have, right where you are.

No wonder you’re feeling like there’s alot on your plate! How are you feeling about right here and now?

Meet You Where You’re At.

Dial back your expectations. Sometimes how we think things need to be stops us from being content with how things are.

Pivot Your Perspective.

Feeling low or down? Unmotivated? How about considering yourself restful or calm! Our energy ebbs and flows. We go through a range of emotions, thoughts and feelings. Honour them all.

Give Yourself Grace.

Treat yourself as you would a very dear friend. Choose to be your kindest, most understanding and forgiving self- especially during lifes struggles.

Think Smaller.

Take your next step. No need to think about what comes after that, as our actions open up new paths and opportunities not always what you were expecting!

The more overwhelmed you are - the smaller your next step can be.

Follow Your Energy.

Lean into your natural energy. Feeling social - make sure you get out there! Feeling quiet - embrace some solitude. Feeling brave- make those big decisions!

Does It Serve You Or Hinder You.

Do your daily habits uplift you and enrich your life? Creating a beautiful life is as much about removing things as it is adding.

Feel The Fear & Do It Anyway.

Ahhh the comfort zone- such a familiar place to be. Get outside it! Don’t let fear keep you from following your curiosity.

Pursue Peace.

Happiness is a tricky thing to chase- we can’t be feeling on top of the world all of the time! When what you think, say and do are all in harmony you can create more calm and alignment in your life.

We Are Here To Experience- Not Accomplish.

There is no need to race to the finish line - the beauty is in the journey.

Consistency Over Perfection.

The habit of showing up will greatly serve you over many aspects of your life. The strive for perfection can stop you before you even get started. Tiny habits performed consistently equal big changes!

Growth is uncomfortable! So is staying the same. Choose your hard.

Create your beautiful life! Be picky.

It’s Messy In The Middle.

Changing and rewiring your brain is HARD work- often feeling like a complete shambles before it all pulls into place.

Create Your Own Atmosphere.

Someone else’s mood doesn’t need to dictate yours. You can be understanding and sympathetic or give another person space etc, but guard your precious energy! You wouldn’t want your own bad mood to flow onto others.

Trust The Process.

You may not see an answer straight away, give it time - allow your body to process thoughts and emotions- relax into this- clarity will come.

Cultivate Beautiful Relationships.

Are you encouraging someone to be the best version of themselves?

The Pain Of Discipline Or The Pain Of Disappointment.

If you have a goal work hard for it and be proud of your efforts!

Rejection Is Redirection.

Don’t be set back too much when something doesn’t go your way. Be adaptable. Pivot in a new direction.

Rush rush rush. We are all feeling the urgency. Accidentally making precious time fly by. Enjoy the mundane moments where not much is happening. Enjoy boredom! Enjoy those peaceful moments where time seems slow as if you planned them to be there.

I heard or read somewhere that apparently you can’t think when you are humming! Choose a favourite or inspiring song to sing or hum to yourself when your self talk aint cutting it. Music is such a beautiful part of life.

Don’t Let The System Get You Down.

This one is a bit of a different road but a big one for me. When I have nothing immediate to focus on my overactive brain goes outward. All of life’s unfairness and unequality. All the suffering, violence, abuse. We can thank media for the clear as day mental images and overwhelming amount of negative information. Recognise what you can control and what you can’t. Help and look after those around you and for a lot of people that starts with yourself. If you are in a space where you are being called to action- that’s amazing- take it! I am forever grateful and inspired by those whose purpose is to fight for others and create change.

This Too Shall Pass.

The only thing we can rely on is change. Nothing lasts forever. This is scary and comforting at the same time! Do things that spark joy, happiness & peace. Follow your callings. Be brave. Spread love and kindness to those around you. Work on letting go what doesn’t serve you and embrace your moment in time.
